Gustavo Ramirez

       Born in Havana Cuba, Gustavo studied all the music of the Cuban masters in the best conservatory and music school in Havana. Gustavos father who was a bass player and  the founder of the Orqesta America, performed with Ernesto Duarte, Benny More  among other Cuban artists who were a big influence in  Afro Cuban jazz. Growing up and attending his fathers performances he got the opportunity to personally know the the best  musicians in Cuba like Frank Emilio Flynn, Chucho Valdes, Emiliano Salvador, Hilario Duran and Gonzalo Rubalcaba. 


The most important period of his professional growth in music was playing in Cuba,  at the Bobby Carcasses  show  and  NG La BANDA. In Mexico he performed with the group Calle 42 and he was the musical director for the Tv channel Canal Azteca.

Relocating to Los Angles he ran into the founding members of the CUBAN LATIN JAZZ PROJECTS, Drummer Raul Pineda and percussionist Jesus Diaz.  Gustavo become one of the top live performers in the Latin  jazz fusion groups in the circus. Gustavo has written Latin arrangements for  Earth Wind and Fire and for Peter Farmpton’s record  Fingerprints  which was a nominee for the 2006 Grammy’s.
